Season 1 of VIVISTOP Telliskivi

Just before the heat of the summer, let us go down the memory lane for a quick glimpse at our first season.

VIVISTOP Telliskivi creativity accelerator for children and youth opened its doors in late November 2018. But already prior to official launch, we had been arranging pop-up activities to introduce VIVITA concept and philosophy, most notably, the first ever kids and youth area at the Latitude59 tech conference in spring 2018 and several ideation workshops and a 3-day urban planning workshop at the Telliskivi Creative City outdoor grounds.

One of the founding pillars of our actions is freeflow-activity — the children’s self-directed learning and self-driven time for developing creative ideas into projects. For this, we have created an inspiring learning environment with modern creativity tools such as 3d printers, laser cutter and inspirational creative stuffs suchs as various recycled materials right in the heart and hub of Tallinn’s creative minds — Telliskivi Creative City.

In addition to free-flow actions we’ve been organising events to spark creativity and teach new skills to the future founders — on weekends a joint parent-kid workshops called “Tech Tribe”, a series of open door days to pitch our philosophy, goals and actions, a variety of workshops on design, technology and new skills, also the first season of girls tech club Unicorn Squad Telliskivi has been hugely popular.

Many activities have been initiated by VIVITA kids community. 9-year-old Karolin ran a workshop on the whimsical life of slime teaching her peers to create their own slime but also the chemical and physical characteristics of it; 11-year-old Mirtel and Susi have been running several workshops on upcycling clothes and accessories. VIVISTOP Mini Stage had its premiere with Solferino — a charming indie-music duo of 9-year-old Elli and her father. Inspired by the 84-year old Japanese programmer Masako Wakamiya, we are running a first grandmother-grandchild-led workshop already this week.

A huge thanks to all the parents who have been helping out and sharing their skills and knowledge with the kids during this season — we will surely focus on skills and inspiration sharing between and beyond all generations also in our future actions.
